Objective

Students will compose and send a professionally formatted business email that includes a clear subject line, appropriate greeting, concise purpose-first body, specific call to action, professional closing and signature block, and correct etiquette for audience and purpose.

Request to Serve as My Senior Project Mentor [This gets typed in the subject line]

Dear [Mentor’s Name],

My name is [Your Name], and I am a senior at [Your School Name]. As part of my graduation requirements, I am completing a senior project on [briefly describe your topic or focus].

I am reaching out because I admire your [expertise in specific field or area or leadership skills, etc. etc.] and believe your experience would be incredibly valuable in guiding me through the successful completion of my project. The mentor role typically involves offering advice, answering occasional questions, providing feedback on my progress, and meeting in person at least once per month.  Please take a moment to view the Student / Mentor Contract which we will complete on paper together in person.

If you agree, I will submit your name to my school for approval as my official senior project mentor. The commitment is flexible, and we can work together to set communication times that fit your schedule.
