WIG = Wildly Important Goal
Focus on less so that you can achieve more
Be extremely focused on one or two things you have complete control over
Lag Measures - tracking measurements for the WIG
When you receive these, it is too late
Lead Measures - measures of the most high-impact things your team must do to reach the goal
Predictive and Influenced
Successfully accomplishing the lead measures will get you where you need to be
How will you know you are winning and losing while playing the game?
Make it a players score board! Simplicity is important.
Unless we consistently hold each other accountable, the goal naturally disintegrates in the whirlwind.
What are the one or two most important things I can do in the next week (outside the chaos) that will have the biggest impact on the scoreboard?
Comprised of SP teachers, school building leadership, as well as district administrators. The Advisory Board is an important component of the program.
Roles of the Board:
Approve/Clarify/Deny project proposal forms in September.
Clarify: Most students who get a “Clarify” stamp on their project proposal form did not describe their project in enough depth. Be sure to make your proposal clear enough that anyone could read it and immediately understand what it is that you hope to undertake with your Senior Project.
Deny: Students who get a “Deny” stamp on their project failed to: 1) Proposed something that does not constitute a learning stretch for themselves 2) Have an SP idea that is objectionable in light of school policy, personnel, and funds.
Establishes SP deadlines and makes official adjustments if needed throughout the school year.
Immediately meet with parents and students who fail any component of the SP process.
Advisory Board meetings typically are held during conference period or Wildcat Business period in the SP office. Any student who needs to meet with the Board will be notified by their SP teacher, a note/pass, or a phone call home.
